Santa's Anonymous - Toy Run Dec.7th 2002 What a FANTASTIC turnout! Thank you all that were able to make it out, and to Jeepfamily for making a monetary donation to Colin to help out. Muchly appreciated. Well, meet time of 11am was actually stuck to. We were on time. We had been there for 10 mins or so when buddy from CH6 News showed. This was the first of many chances/opportunities I had to make a fool out of myself. What with what I did the night before at the Shaw staff party, and what I did today...you'd think I would know to lock me'self in a room somewhere and not wanna come out. Teeheehee! So, shopping was fun. Watching everyone pick out gifts gives one some real insight into friends' personalities. - Ibby
buys yet another EXTREMELY expensive 4x4 (ya'd think he'd learn ) Congregating at Mayfair lanes for the photo-op of the crew, then a light cruise down to the Santa's Anonymous head quarters in Oak Bay. The cruise was headed by our own Greg Payne (ToyotaJunky), who led us out onto Tolmie, a right onto Quadra, left on Fort, and finally a right onto Oak Bay Ave. Dusty Cunningham was a sweetie! She is the admin. of SA, and was very excited that we were making a big event like this to donate to their cause. Way to go! They had their office all decked out with decorations, calling their themed headquarters "Teddy Town". $2.00 for a large gingerbread man cookie made for a light snack before lunch. I enjoyed seeing so many smiles in that office. Even Cam went a little RED when I brought attention to his hat. I think that's what it's all about: the smiles. After FILLING the toy bin at the outlet in Oak Bay, I had yet another BLUSH moment with VI News. Ugh. I hope you all felt as good as I did with what went on that afternoon. I don't think I saw one face without a smile there. I think that's what it's all about guys n gals. Imagine the smiles we're putting on the faces of all those kids out there. Santa's got the best job on earth! Some ideas for next year that we could look at implementing have been plaguing me for a few days now; I'd like to look at decorating the vehicles participating a bit. Lights (green and red Rock Lights would be cool!), streamers, and maybe get Ibsen to dress up as Santa. I do hope that we get as good of a turn out, as we did this year in the future. Thanks again, ya bunch of NIRMS!! |
