Quick Tip - Quick Disconnect Mirrors

This is a neat trick if you want to keep your mirrors from getting bashed on the trail.

The modification only takes a few minutes, and is pretty cheap.

I used some bicycle quick release clips, that I managed to get for free.

Just unbolt your mirrors, cut a slot for the clips to slide in and out of, reassemble your mirror arm replacing the bolt with the bicycle clips, and...that's it, piece of cake!

I'm planning on trying this on a Samurai as well. The idea is to use CJ mirrors on the Samurai when the doors are removed (hence the loss of side mirrors). The bonus would be the ability to stay somewhat legal, but still be able to take the mirrors off on the trail if so desired.
