Better Defrosting For Your CJ

Simple Heat fix:

Did you ever feel the top of your windshield frame when the heater is on? A lot of hot air is lost heating up the frame because the frame is hollow. The vents are not driving all that nice air flow onto the windshield where it belongs. Air flow is compromised by this inefficient design.

Remove and look at the bottom of the plastic defrost vents. You'll see small tabs that stick down into the frame. They point toward the center of the Jeep. These tabs are deflectors to "catch, divert and direct" the airflow up through the defrost vents. It's not an efficient way of diverting air to defrost.

Do what I did, about three years ago, when I replaced my windshield frame.

I removed one of the bolts holding the windshield on, on each side of the windshield frame. I stuck a nozzle from a can of automotive spray insulation through these holes, and pushed the trigger. The foam expanded and blocked air flow from going up and around the entire frame.

In short, this increases airflow through the defrost vents.
